FCDO / EGAP Metaketa IV Results Presentation
On September 23, 2020, Graeme Blair (Metaketa IV steering committee chair and associate professor at UCLA) presented the integrated results from six coordinated field experimental studies that assessed whether an informal model of police-community interaction changes the level of trust in the police, levels of observed cooperation, and rates of crime. Blair provided a journey through the Pakistan, Uganda, Liberia, Brazil, Colombia and Philippines studies to find out what lessons can be applied to the UK Foreign, Commonwealth, and Development Office’s (FCDO) community policing work, regardless of context.
Cillian Nolan also joined for the discussion. Cillian is the Associate Director for Policy at J-PAL Europe and adviser on J-Pal’s steam of work on crime, violence and conflict. Prior to joining J-PAL Cillian worked for over a decade as a researcher and analyst on conflict issues, examining the sources of violent conflict and advocating policies geared towards its effective management and prevention.
