Learning Days 5: Guatemala City
Mercy Corps – Convivimos
Overview
Organized by EGAP in association with Mercy Corps
August 21 – 25, 2017
Guatemala City, Guatemala
Mercy Corps and Evidence in Governance and Politics (EGAP) co-hosted a workshop on experimental research methods in Guatemala City. The workshop brought together researchers from around Guatemala to build impact evaluation skills and apply them to projects funded by Mercy Corps’ Convivimos program.
This five-day meeting consisted of a combination of design clinics and teach-ins on topics critical for designing impact evaluations and field experiments intended to measure the effects of policies, interventions, and programs on policy outcomes. Teach-in topics included randomization, statistical power, and threats to the estimation of treatment effects. Throughout the week participants developed their own research designs together with peers and more senior researchers.
