The Kenya Institute for Public Policy Research and Analysis (KIPPRA) was established as a public institute in May 1997 and commenced operations in June 1999. In January 2007, His Excellency the President signed the KIPPRA Bill into law and the KIPPRA Act No. 15 of 2006 commenced on 1st February 2007. The primary mandate of KIPPRA is to provide quality public policy advice to the Government of Kenya by conducting objective research and analysis and through capacity building in order to contribute to the achievement of national development goals. KIPPRA is therefore charged with conducting objective policy research and analysis and capacity building leading to policy advice on a wide range of policy issues for government, government agencies, and the private sector.
Institutional Representative: Eliud Moyi, Deputy Director
Eliud Moyi is a Deputy Director at KIPPRA. He holds a PhD in Economics, with interests in Macroeconomics, Microeconometrics, and Financial Economics. He is an accomplished research and public policy expert with over 20 years of experience accumulated in the public sector in Kenya working on both local and international assignments. He has published over 20 peer-reviewed journal articles and over 20 working papers as well as book chapters. He reviews articles for the Journal of Information Technology for Development, African Journal of Agricultural Research, Africa Development Review, Journal of Global Entrepreneurship Research, Journal of International Development and African Journal of Science Technology, Innovation and Development. He has held several fellowships and awards including United Nations University Fellowship (1999), Robert S McNamara Fellowship of the World Bank (1999), Visiting Scholar Fellowship from the International Monetary Fund (2003), and the United Nations University World Institute for Development Economic Research (2017).
