Donghyun Danny Choi

Donghyun Danny Choi is an Assistant Professor of Political Science and a Faculty Fellow at the Watson Institute for International and Public Affairs at Brown University. A scholar of comparative politics by training, he studies the challenges associated with governance and representation in diverse societies in Africa and Europe, with a focus on identity politics, political parties, and representation. His work has been published in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, American Political Science Review, American Journal of Political Science, Journal of Politics, and Political Analysis, among others. His coauthored book, Native Bias: Overcoming Discrimination Against Immigrants, was published in 2022 by Princeton University Press and was awarded the best book prize by the American Political Science Association Experimental Research Section. He is currently working on his second book on intraparty politics and representation in Kenya.

He received a B.A. in economics with highest honors from Korea University and Ph.D. in political science from the University of California, Berkeley.
