The Action Center for Food Security and Sustainable Development “CASAD-Benin” is a non-governmental, apolitical, secular and non-profit organization. CASAD’s mission is to improve food and nutrition security and support sound natural resource management through Participatory Research & Actions (impact assessment knowledge management, facilitation, capacity building, and the empowerment of rural communities and professional agricultural organizations).
Institutional Representative: Ambaliou Odountan Olounlade
Ambaliou Odountan Olounlade is a United Nations Development Programme certified expert in the impact assessment of programs and policies related to the fight against Poverty in nations and he has provided expertise on project impact assessment to several organizations. He directs the Centre of Actions for Food Security and Sustainable Development’ (CASAD) and is in the completion phase of the Ph.D. thesis in Agricultural Economics at Huazhong Agricultural University, China. Ambaliou engages policymakers in the use of evidence in Contract Farming as a tool for financing agricultural production and poverty alleviation in rural areas in Benin. He coordinates policy research processes that are used to formulate new policies and make efficiently operational the contract farming system in Benin. By the way, to ensure effective uptake of knowledge, he supported the creation of a multi-stakeholder platform (Prolinnovap) in which stakeholders such as the local governments, farmers, researchers, and civil society communities participate.
For Ambaliou’s work, knowledge facilitating is fundamentally significant for the basic explanation that all the difficulties the world is confronting concerning poverty alleviation, food, and nutritional security require joint arrangements co-made by all partners. To invigorate knowledge expediting, the beginning stage is improving the way of life of knowledge handling and make motivators to do as such in social orders with the goal that people and associations standard it in their characteristic method of getting things done. Ambaliou O. Olounlade has published widely in refereed journals and books. He received his Master’s and BA in Agricultural Economics from the Faculty of Agronomic Sciences of Abomey-Calavi University.
