CERAP is a research Center and a think-tank that is well known in Côte d’Ivoire and in West Africa for its works with policymakers. CERAP has produced numerous policy reports for West African governments, for the UNDP, UNHCR, UN Women, the World Bank, the African Bank of Development, the European Union, the African Union, etc. These policy reports have helped CERAP to be well connected to policymakers not only in Côte d’Ivoire, but also across West Africa.
CERAP is also a higher education institution with 10 Master’s programs and 6 BA’s program. Two doctoral programs in Law and in Political science are under elaboration and will be launched in the near future.
Institutional Representative: Arsène Brice Bado, Vice-President for Academic Affairs
Arsène Brice Bado, PhD, is the Vice President for Academic Affairs at the Jesuit University of the Center for Research and Action for Peace (CERAP / UJ) in Abidjan, Ivory Coast. Prior to working at CERAP, Mr. Bado was a Southern Voices Fellow at the Woodrow Wilson International Fellows Center in Washington, DC, from September to November 2015. He was also a Visiting Fellow at Yale University during the academic year 2014-2015 year. He was the 2017-18 Anna and Donald Waite Chair at Creighton University, Omaha, Nebraska.
His research focuses on democracy, ethnic pluralism, conflict analysis, forced migration, electoral processes in conflict-torn societies and foreign aid in Africa. His publications have appeared in the Journal of International Migration and Integration, Mediterranean Policy, Revue Études, Revue Relations, Débats-Courrier d’Afrique de l’Ouest and La Civiltà Cattolica. In addition, he has contributed chapters to several books and in 2015 he edited Dynamics of Civil Wars in Africa: A Holistic Approach. He is the author of Cross-Border Dignity: Forced Migration and Christian Social Ethics. Mr. Bado holds a bachelor’s degree in philosophy, socio-anthropology and theology and a master’s degree in social ethics, international human rights law and socio-anthropology. He obtained his doctorate in political science from Laval University in Canada in 2016.
