The Busara Center for Behavioral Economics is a research and advisory firm based in Nairobi that is dedicated to advancing and applying behavioral science in the Global South. The Busara Center helps clients to understand human behaviors and design solutions to scale products, programs, and policies. By utilizing a behavioral approach to design these solutions, they can better understand and predict barriers to best achieve desired outcomes and enhance user welfare.
The work at the Busara Center starts with removing assumptions and preconceived notions about culture and context to look at the world through a fresh perspective. They spend time listening, learning, designing and discarding potential solutions before finding the ones that may work. Then they test, scale, break, and iterate, again and again until they have it right.
Institutional Representative: Gideon Too, Engagement Director
Gideon has served as an Associate at Busara since April 2016. During this time, he has worked on a diverse range of advisory and research projects across the region primarily with partners in the digital financial services, environmental and social justice, and charitable giving spaces. Prior to joining Busara, he worked at Ernst & Young’s New York office as part of the financial services advisory team.
Gideon holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Wesleyan University, where he majored in Economics. His interests include public sector efficacy and consumer protection within digital financial services.
