Antonella Bandiera is an Assistant Professor at ITAM in Mexico City. She is a political scientist studying historical and contemporary challenges to the effective functioning of the state in Latin America. Her work focuses on non-state armed actors, forced displacement, and misinformation, exploring the interplay between these phenomena and political and economic development. Her recent projects evaluate policy interventions aimed at mitigating these challenges. She tackles these questions by combining quasi-experimental and experimental designs with intensive fieldwork across several Latin American countries. She received her Ph.D. from NYU’s Department of Politics in 2020 and her BA from Universidad de San Andrés (Buenos Aires, Argentina).
