Abhit Bhandari

Abhit Bhandari is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Political Science at Vanderbilt University. His work investigates the interplay between political inequality, consumer and firm behavior, and formal and informal institutions, with a regional focus in Africa. He has conducted fieldwork in Senegal, Niger, Mozambique, and The Gambia, and has implemented field experiments, original surveys and survey experiments, and qualitative data collection. His work has appeared in American Journal of Political Science and Comparative Political Studies, among others, and has been funded by the National Science Foundation, Private Enterprise Development in Low-Income Countries (PEDL), J-PAL, and the Social Science Research Council, among others. He has consulted for the World Bank and USAID and previously worked for the UN World Food Programme. Abhit received his PhD in political science from Columbia University.
