Daniel Butler is a professor of political science at University of California, San Diego. He was formerly an associate professor of political science at Washington University in St. Louis. His research uses experiments to study the relationship between voters and elected officials. Daniel works in the United States and Europe. Currently, he is collaborating with public officials to study the effects of politicians’ communications on constituents’ political attitudes and behaviors. Daniel has also collaborated with local officials in the United States to study effective ways of increasing the number of volunteers for local town boards and committees. Finally, he has several on-going projects to study the determinants of public officials’ willingness to invest in policy learning. Daniel’s research has appeared in the American Journal of Political Science, the Journal of Politics, Political Analysis, the Journal of Experimental Political Science, and other journals.
