Evan Lieberman is Professor of Political Science at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), where he directs the Center for International Studies as well as the MIT Global Diversity Lab and MIT International Science and Technology Initiatives (MISTI), the institute’s hub for international education.
His research and teaching focuses on the democratic politics of governing diverse societies, including with respect to the challenges of public health, climate adaptation, and ensuring respect for human dignity. He uses original field work, experiments, comparative-historical analysis, and other empirical approaches, and occasionally writes and teaches on research methods and strategies. Much of his work is focused on the African continent.
His book, Until We Have Won Our Liberty: South Africa after Apartheid, was published by Princeton University Press in May 2022. It is available for order on Amazon and at other booksellers.
