México Evalúa is an independent think tank that provides evidence on the quality and effectiveness of Mexican public policies by analyzing their design, monitoring their implementation, and evaluating their results. The work is separate in two major fields: public safety and justice and effectiveness of public expenditure, accountability and the fight against corruption. The Public Safety and Justice Program produce multidisciplinary analyses and evidence on public safety, crime prevention, victimization, effectiveness of the criminal justice system and social rehabilitation. The Public Expenditure and Accountability Program monitors the use of public resources, analyzes the budget design process and its supplementary arrangements during the fiscal year, focusses on the effectiveness of public investment in infrastructure, evaluates the reforms proposed by the different political parties on transparency and the fight against corruption and proposes regulatory improvements towards an effective accountability.
Institutional Representative: Edna Jaime, General Director and Founder
Edna Jaime is General Director and founder of México Evalúa, a Mexican think tank that focuses on evaluating and monitoring government performance concerning public finances, accountability, transparency, security, justice and combating corruption. She has more than 25 years of research experience developed through the analysis of diverse topics of public policy and more than 10 years of experience leading think tanks. Previously, she acted as General Director of the Mexican Think Tank Centro de Investigación para el Desarrollo (CIDAC).
In her career, Edna has directed and collaborated in more than 20 research works that have had an impact on public decision-making in Mexico. She earned a Bachelor Degree in Political Science from Instituto Tecnológico Autónomo de México (ITAM). Edna also participates as a weekly columnist for the Mexican Newspaper El Universal and collaborates with several nationwide TV and radio news programs. In 2011, she was honored with the Professional Merit Award issued by ITAM for her career in civil society organizations.
