Rosario Aguilar is associate professor of political science at Newcastle University. Her research interests are in identity politics, focusing on the effect that different contexts have on people’s political behavior and attitudes in relation to race and gender, as well as on the study of voters’ psychological predispositions on support of populist discourses in young democracies. Aguilar is also interested in improving survey measures of political attitudes, such as party identification, in young democracies. Her research has appeared in Comparative Political Studies, Electoral Studies, Latin American Research Review, and Política y Gobierno. She is the co-Principal Investigator of the Mexico National Elections Study which is part of the Comparative Studies of Electoral Systems (CSES) in Mexico as well as the National Representative for Mexico at the Executive Council of the World Association of Public Opinion Research (WAPOR).
