Jennifer Pan is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Communication at Stanford University. Her research focuses on the politics of authoritarian regimes, with an emphasis on China. Much of Jennifer’s work examines the footprint left by efforts of these regimes to control the production, dissemination, and collection of information in order to reveal political choices and outcomes in these often opaque contexts. Her work has appeared in the American Political Science Review, American Journal of Political Science, Comparative Political Studies, and Science. Jennifer obtained her PhD in political science from the Department of Government at Harvard University in May 2015. Prior to her graduate studies, Jennifer was a consultant for four years at McKinsey and Company.
