Carlo is an assistant professor in the Department of Political Science at Columbia University. Previously, he was an assistant professor in the School of Foreign Service at Georgetown University. Carlo received his PhD from the Economics Department of Northwestern University in 2012. For the 2015-2016 academic year, he served as the W. Glenn Campbell and Rita Ricardo-Campbell National Fellow at the Hoover Institution, Stanford University. Carlo's research is at the intersection of economics and political science. Specifically, he studies how electoral and legislative institutions affect policy-making, as well as the accountability and selection of representatives.
