Lucia is a PhD student at New York University ’s Department of Politics. Her research interests lie in comparative politics, the political economy of development and international political economy, with a regional focus on Mexico and Latin America. On the one hand, using observational data, she explores how the electoral incentives of office holders change in the context of institutional reform. On the other hand, using experimental data she explores the political behavior of voters in its interactions with race and identity. Before entering graduate school, she worked as a consultant on statistics and crime analysis for the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime Headquarters in Vienna. She holds a M.A. in Politics from New York University and graduated with Honors from her two bachelor’s degrees, in political science and international relations, from Instituto Tecnológico Autónomo de México in Mexico City.
