Evan Lieberman is Professor of Political Science at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), where he directs the MIT Global Diversity Lab, and is the faculty director of the MIT International Science and Technology Initiatives (MISTI), the institute’s hub for international education.
His research and teaching focuses on the democratic politics of governing diverse societies, including with respect to the challenges of public health, climate adaptation, and ensuring respect for human dignity. He uses original field work, experiments, comparative-historical analysis, and other empirical approaches, and occasionally writes and teaches on research methods and strategies. Much of his work is focused on the African continent, and he directs the MIT-Africa program.
His book, Until We Have Won Our Liberty: South Africa after Apartheid, will be published by Princeton University Press in May 2022. It is now available for pre-order at Amazon and other booksellers.
