Ragan Petrie is an Associate Professor of Economics at Texas A&M University. Her research is in the area of applied microeconomics, with a focus on topics in public and labor economics. She draws upon methods from experimental economics to address her research questions. Using both laboratory and field experiments, she has investigated topics such as the motives for charitable giving, gender differences in bargaining outcomes, the effects of social context on decisions, how children’s risk and time preferences interact with behavior, and persuasion in political campaigning. She has published in the American Economic Review, the Journal of Public Economics and the Economic Journal. Dr. Petrie serves as co-editor of the Journal of Economic Behavior and Organization as well as an associate editor of the Southern Economic Journal and the Journal of Behavioral and Experimental Economics. She received her Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
