Tolga Sinmazdemir is a Fellow in the School of Public Policy at London School of Economics. Between 2013-18, he was an Assistant Professor of Political Science and International Relations at Bogazici University, Istanbul. He received his Ph.D. in Politics from New York University in 2012. His main research interests are causes and consequences of ethnic conflict and violence, with a special focus on the Middle East. Currently he is working on projects that examine Syrian refugees’ political attitudes as well as the attitudes of host societies towards Syrian refugees. His work has been published or forthcoming in Journal of Peace Research, PS: Political Science and Politics, Studies in Conflict and Terrorism, and Review of Middle East Studies.
