Pedro is an associate professor at the Nova School of Business and Economics at the Universida de Nova de Lisboa in Portugal. He is also the scientific director of NovAfrica. NovAfrica is a knowledge center with the mission to produce distinctive expertise on business and economic development in Africa. A particular focus is on Portuguese-speaking Africa, i.e., Angola, Cape Verde, Guinea-Bissau, Mozambique, and Sao Tome and Principe. His wider research interests include development economics, political economy, experimental economics/program evaluation, and microeconomic theory. Pedro received his PhD in Economics from the University of Chicago in 2005, with a dissertation entitled “Essays on Corruption and the Natural Resource Curse.”
