Alan is Charles C. and Dorathea S. Dilley Professor of Political Science at Yale University, as well as Faculty in Residence for their Institution for Social and Policy Studies. He directs the Center for the Study of American Politics, and teaches courses on experimental methods, statistics, and American politics. His current research focuses on the application of experimental methods to the study of campaign communications. He has designed and performed experimental evaluations of many campaigns and fundraising programs, both partisan and non-partisan in nature. His experimental research has appeared in numerous academic journals including the leading journals in political science: the American Political Science Review, American Journal of Political Science, and the Journal of Politics, as well as the Proceedings of the National Academy of Science. Alan graduated from Yale University (summa cum laude, Phi Beta Kappa) and holds a Ph.D. in Economics from MIT.
